John Hayman is the Founder and President of Capital Advantage, Inc. John received a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science with a subspecialty in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1981. John is a Certified Financial Planner, or CFP©. After working as a Financial Advisor at a major securities brokerage firm for three years, John saw something missing in the financial planning community: independent thought in investment planning and a loyal commitment to client service.
Determined to create a new business model that would focus more on the client, John founded what is now Capital Advantage, Inc. in his basement in 1981. His vision: An independent advisory firm that would act as a fiduciary and provide financial peace of mind to each and every client.
More than 25 years later, Capital Advantage, Inc. is a 100% fee-only, SEC-registered investment advisory firm focusing primarily on individuals near or in retirement. More recently, the firm broadened its horizons and began providing institutional investment advisory services to non-profit groups and 401(k) plans.
Now that he is joined by a number of other financial advisors and a skilled support staff, John enjoys spending as much time with his family as possible. He lives with his wife and two daughters in Orinda. If not cheering courtside at a Warriors basketball game, John can be found enjoying the great outdoors—by boat, motorcycle or foot.

Donna Zinman is a Senior Financial Advisor and the Managing Director at Capital Advantage, Inc. She is responsible for establishing new client relationships, managing investment portfolios and financial planning, as well as firm marketing and human resource management.
Donna received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from California State University at San Francisco in 1986 and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Golden Gate University at San Francisco in 1995.
She began her career in the financial services industry in 1989. After working as a Bank Officer at Wells Fargo for two years, she joined Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. as a Financial Consultant in 1991. She joined Capital Advantage, Inc. in 2004. Donna holds a Certificate in Financial Planning from the University of California at Berkeley.
Donna lives with her husband and daughter in Moraga. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family—hiking, biking, skiing and golfing are among the family’s favorite outdoor activities.

Gary Clarke is a Senior Financial Advisor and the Director of Sales at Capital Advantage, Inc. He is responsible for establishing new client relationships, managing investment portfolios, financial planning, and sales.
Gary received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Chaminade University in Honolulu in 1986.
After managing a family-owned business in his native Hawaii for five years, Gary moved to California and started his financial services career in 1994. He worked as a Financial Planner for American Express Financial Advisors for one year, and then joined WM Financial Services, a subsidiary of Washington Mutual Bank, FA, as a Financial Consultant in 1995. In 2000, he joined Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. as a Financial Consultant. He joined Capital Advantage, Inc. in 2005. Gary is currently enrolled in a study program necessary to obtain the Certified Financial Planner, or CFP©, designation.
Gary lives with his wife and daughter in San Ramon. He is actively involved in the San Ramon Valley Rotary Club and enjoys fundraising for the American Diabetes Society and Rotary International Foundation. In his spare time, he enjoys home projects, playing the drums, weight training and cycling.

Rick Mcnamara is the Director of Investment Management at Capital Advantage, Inc. He performs extensive investment research, financial planning, portfolio management, asset allocation, and trading duties.
Rick received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from California State University at Chico.
Rick has worked in the financial services field since 1997, when he joined Franklin Templeton’s mutual fund information department. In 1999, he joined Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. as an Investment Specialist. He joined Capital Advantage, Inc. in 2002. Rick holds a Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor (CMFC) designation.
Rick lives with his wife in Castro Valley. A former college baseball player, he is an avid participant in senior softball, and plays 120 games a year in cities across the United States. His team is one of the top 60-year-old teams in the country.

Dawnalizabeth Henke is the Compliance Officer at Capital Advantage, Inc. She is responsible for federal regulatory compliance, information security, and technology. She also assists with investment research, asset allocation analysis, and trading duties.
Dawnalizabeth received a Bachelor’s Degree in History from California State University at Hayward in 2004 and a Master’s Degree in Financial Analysis and Investment Management from Saint Mary’s College of California in 2007. She is currently finishing her second Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance at Saint Mary’s College, and she expects to finish in 2008.
Dawnalizabeth began her financial services career in 1998 as a Financial Analyst at a private wealth management firm in Oakland. She joined Capital Advantage, Inc. in 2006.
Dawnalizabeth lives in Danville. In her time outside of work, she can be found engaging in her graduate studies or challenging the performance limits of her sports car.

Aimee Schwartze is the Director of Client Service at Capital Advantage, Inc. She is responsible for managing the client service department staff, processing quarterly performance reports, billing clients, reconciling accounts and attending client meetings.
Aimee lives with her son in Clayton. She is actively involved in her son’s school, serving as a team parent for the basketball, soccer, baseball and tackle football teams. She also volunteers for VESTIA, a non-profit organization that helps needy families in Contra Costa County.

Robin Prosser is the Manager of Client Service at Capital Advantage, Inc. She is responsible for contacting clients, preparing account paperwork, processing client requests and attending client meetings.
Robin received a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies from California State University at San Francisco in 1993.
She worked in retail management for a number of years before beginning her financial services career as a Client Service Specialist for Charles Schwab and Co., Inc. in 1999. She joined Capital Advantage, Inc. in 2007.
Robin lives in Walnut Creek. She enjoys hiking and biking, and can often be found exploring the trails of the East Bay.

Amy Montano is the Senior Administrator at Capital Advantage, Inc. She is responsible for reception duties, facility maintenance, marketing events, client service requests and special projects.
Amy received an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Heald Business College in Walnut Creek in 1985.
She began her career at Arthur Andersen/Andersen Consulting in 1989. In 1998, she joined Turner Investment Partners as an Administrative Assistant, and in 2007, she joined Capital Advantage, Inc.
Amy lives with her husband and daughter in Walnut Creek. She enjoys a number of outdoor activities, including hiking and horseback riding.
